100th Anniversary of Medine

The Medine Sugar Estates was created in 1911 and operates on the west coast of Mauritius.  Sugarcane, amongst other cultures in place at that time, gradually became the company's main focus and has over the years driven the company's strategies accordingly.

In 2004, foreseeing the end of the Sugar Protocol with the European Union and the need to rethink its operation and strategy, the company commissioned a team of town-planners, architects and sociologists to elaborate the Medine Master Plan 2005-2025.  This document stands as a blue-print for Medine's judicious integrated and diversified developments and projects for the next 20 years.

In 2009, The Medine Sugar Estates Co. Ltd. was renamed Medine Limited, in accordance with the company's new development strategy and vision, as well as its restructuring into tree main clusters, namely Agriculture, Property and Leisure.

Medine was a pioneer in the conception and implementation of the first Mauritian Integrated Resort Scheme (IRS), the Tamarina Golf Estate.
